Sarah Giddings is proud to serve as the Director of WAVE, a countywide alternative program that is a part of the Washtenaw Educational Options Consortium. WAVE serves all the school districts in Washtenaw County to provide a nontraditional personalized path to completing high school. She has also spent decades involved in efforts to emphasize social-emotional learning in education beginning with CASEL certification in Chicago Public Schools and later helping to develop Michigan's SEL K-12 competencies. Besides working at WAVE, she also helps consult with the Washtenaw ISD on social-emotional learning efforts in the county. With this position, she helped develop a comprehensive K-12 SEL curriculum for TRAILS Michigan and presented and developed SEL training for multiple school districts. She also helped administer and assess SEL competencies with ninth graders across the county. 

She is a passionate and experienced advocate for education policies that emphasize health and well-being for students and staff serving on the statewide SEL network for the last five years and is experienced  with delivering professional learning to educators and students not only around SEL, but on personalized learning, competency-based education, assessment literacy, and teacher-powered schools
